SENSOR DDS® technology is a perfect tool for regulators, customers, quality control
organisations, and applicators of geomembrane in controlling and surveying leaks. The
technology is used in the following types of applications:

Hydraulic Works

- sewage, industrial ponds, lagoons, waste disposal cells, water tanks, dams, canals
Earth and Civil Works
- lagoons along highways, bridges, pipelines
Buildings
- flat roofs, underground waterproofing

The Fixed SENSOR DDS® process consists of the installation of PEHD sensors under
the geomembrane. These sensors are connected by wires to a control box located at
the containment area. After completion of the drainage/cover layers, an electric source
above the liner is activated and any current abnormality resulting from a damaged liner
area is detected. The data acquired on site is interpreted by the special software which
produces two or three-dimensional graphics identifying the actual damage positions. The
locations of these potential leakage points are advised to the site within a few hours
permitting exposure of the damaged areas and liner repair before the site is put into
service.

The Mobile SENSOR DDS® uses special mobile sensors for gathering the measurement electrical parameters. The mobile sensors are located on the top of drainage protective layer. There are two techniques used in this process:
Direct Mobile Detection System
- The abnormality of the distribution of the electrical parameters are visually analysed directly during operating and survey. The mobile sensors are placed temporarily and regularly on the surface to be tested, which allows a direct location with the detection equipment, and a marker is placed above each anomaly found.
Analysed Mobile Detection System
- The measured electrical parameters are registered and stored by a portable measuring Sensor Neptun unit. A remote computer is used for analysis. Following a determined grid, the mobile sensors are placed temporarily and regularly with a laser guide on the surface to be surveyed. All data is registered, allowing (after interpretation) the positioning of the anomalies on an electrical map.

SENSOR DDS® provides options which allow early warning and waterproofing integrity control of the geomembrane.

Automatic Alarm System (AAS): Visual or sonar warning with the possibility of
transmission. Powered by solar panels or battery.

Portable Monitoring System (PMS): Off-line control of integrity of geomembranes. Analyses and interpretation is done remotely in interpretation centre.

Continuous Monitoring System (CMS): On-line 24 hours Continuous control with localisation of damage directly onto computer monitoring display. The computer is installed at facility buildings.

SENSOM CSL – Conductive Sensor Layer: Conductive PP or PES geotextile for testing integrity of geomembranes in double liner systems or similar.

Company Information

Sensor was started in 1990 to control the integrity of waterproofing barriers and to develop the new technologies in controlling, warning, and monitoring the integrity of the waterproofing systems. Sensor is tuned in to a growing demand in an ever more constraining ecological and financial environment.

Presently SENSOR DDS® technology is installed at 36 countries, at 4 continents and cover many millions of m2 of geomembranes at hundreds projects.
