TRI/Environmental has announced the dates for its next CQA Week of professional development opportunities and training. The next gathering will be held 12–16 November 2012 in Austin, Texas at TRI's campus, which includes on-site test cells for those who take part in the liner integrity survey training course. Participants in the week may also take part in CQA/CQC training with geosynthetic installations and with compacted clay liner and geosynthetic clay liner installations.
Finally, there will be an opportunity at the end of the end to sit for the Geosynthetic Certification Institute's Inspectors Certification Program (GCI-ICP), which is overseen by the Geosynthetic Institute (GSI).
All students will be provided a certificate of course completion, suitable for use in proposals and statements of qualifications for CQC/CQA work. This unique one-week dedicated CQA training program provides a wonderful opportunity for professional growth and business development.
The schedule and course descriptions are as follows:
November 12–13
LINER INTEGRITY SURVEY/ASSESSMENT COURSE
Recent CQA technology development has encouraged the geosynthetics industry to re-think the historical paradigm of destructive seam testing (peel and shear). Part of the response to these considerations has been the encouragement and rapid development of non-destructive testing—specifically, Liner Integrity Surveys/Assessments (LISA).
LISA technologies can be utilized to swiftly and non-destructively detect small holes or leaks in geomembrane liner systems. This two-day program is comprised of one day each in the classroom and in the field. Test cells, built specifically for this purpose allow attendees to experience multiple scenarios while learning from one of the industry's most experienced liner surveyors, Dr. Ian Peggs.
This course, offered by the TRI-Corp Liner Integrity Center (TCLIC), is intended to assist those who are interested in adding LISA to their core business, or for those reviewing results of LISA for regulatory or client approval.
November 14–15
CQA/CQC OF LINING SYSTEMS
- Nov 14: Construction QA/QC for Geosynthetic Installations
- Nov 15: Construction QA/QC for Compacted Clay Liner & GCL Installations
These sessions are specifically designed for those persons who have a need for a detailed understanding of proper CQC and CQA procedures for waste containment facilities. These courses are ideal preparation for the Geosynthetic Certification Institute's Inspectors Certification Program (GCI-ICP) exam and will provide a comprehensive understanding to those professionals who are preparing CQC/CQA plans, reviewing CQC/CQA plans, performing CQC/CQA observations and tests, and reviewing field CQC/CQA procedures.
November 16
GCI INSPECTORS CERTIFICATION PROGRAM EXAM
* NOTE: To sit for this exam, the participant must also register in advance with GSI. Full details are included in the CQA Week registration brochure (linked to below).
